One of the great privileges of working in the PR office is we get to open the post!!
While the world is becoming more and more digital, and online options to give and communicate are increasingly popular, there is still something quite lovely about good old fashioned pen and paper, and the expectation that accompanies opening a little envelope and not knowing who has sent it, or what may be inside!!
In fact many of our wonderful Caring For Life supporters still send their donations in this time honoured way, enclosing a cheque, and also a typed or hand written letter, card or note, expressing their appreciation for all the Lord is doing through Caring For Life, how they are praying earnestly for the ministry and sometimes a little bit of their own news too, which is also lovely to hear!!
What is so striking in these little letters is the genuine love, warmth and compassion of our supporters that shines through, showing that their hearts have been moved to partner with God in His ministry here. Every supporter is part of the Caring For Life family, and as you know receiving letters in the post from family is always special!
“We cared so deeply that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our own lives as well. That is how beloved you have become to us.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8
And in the PR office we have this joy every single day, of opening the post, rejoicing in so many generous gifts and feeling that special connection to all our supporters who write to us from all across the country and sometimes even further afield too!
Every single gift is precious. And every single item of post from our supporters is precious…..
Sometimes we get anonymous notes just asking for prayer, for different struggles and we always pray. Although we don’t ever know the particular circumstances, or who is behind these little cries for help we are comforted that God does. So we carry these needs to the Thrown of Grace on behalf of those who have written in the assurance that God hears, and delights to answer prayer.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.” Romans 12:15
And sometimes we are simply overwhelmed at what we may encounter inside a tiny envelope!
Just recently we received a significant legacy gift from a dedicated supporter who had passed away.. It is so heart warming to know that people would take the time to consider and make arrangements to leave a legacy gift that will outlive them, even as they are preparing to depart for their eternal home with their Saviour Christ Jesus in Glory.
In this case, we plan to put this particular gift towards our new centre, which God willing, when built is going to have such a huge impact on all our precious beneficiaries and be a real place of safety, fun, laughter, love, healing and hope in the Lord Jesus for many years to come!
